An apochromat, or apochromatic lens (apo), is a photographic or other lens that has better correction of chromatic and spherical aberration than the much more common achromat lenses. It is a kind of aberration that describes the imaging difference of different wavelengths. In the visible light range, the chromatic aberration is represented by the difference between F(violet light) and C ( Red Light).

By selecting a specific glass material and a lens group with a radius of curvature, the chromatic aberration can be balanced, so that the chromatic aberration of F and C light is 0, At this time, the remaining chromatic aberration of D light is called the secondary spectrum. After further eliminating the second spectrum, it is called APO lens, or apochromatic Lens, which requires that the focal length change caused by different colours must be less than two thousandths of the focal length.
