laser output mirror

Laser Output Mirrors | CO₂ & Nd:YAG Output Couplers

Laser output mirrors (output couplers) are critical resonator components that regulate laser output by partially reflecting intracavity energy while transmitting the remainder for downstream use. Proper selection of reflectivity directly influences output power, mode stability, and overall efficiency.

Shape Optics Technologies manufactures high-performance laser output mirrors for CO₂ and YAG laser systems, built with high damage thresholds and tight optical tolerances. Using premium substrates such as BK7 and ZnSe, our mirrors are optimized for specific wavelengths and power densities. Reflectivity can be precisely customized to achieve the best balance between cavity feedback and usable output for applications including cutting, welding, engraving, and heat treatment.

Key Features

  • Selectable Reflectivity (17%–90%): Broad reflectivity options enable precise control of laser output coupling for optimal cavity performance.
  • Optimized for CO₂ & YAG Lasers: Designed specifically for 10.6 μm (CO₂) and 1064 nm (Nd:YAG) systems to ensure stable operation and efficiency.
  • High Damage Threshold & Durability: Engineered to withstand high-intensity laser power with long-term reliability in demanding environments.
  • Material Flexibility: Available in BK7 (VIS–NIR) and ZnSe (IR) to match wavelength and power requirements.
  • Custom Sizes & Coatings: Tailored dimensions, reflectivity, and coating designs to suit different resonator architectures.

Spectrum & Custom Transmission Curves

Custom transmission/reflectivity curves can be generated upon request to match exact wavelengths, bandwidths, and angles of incidence. Designs are based on proven standard platforms and fine-tuned to your laser’s operational needs.

Coating Quality & Reliability

All laser output mirrors are validated to stringent standards:

  • Adhesion: MIL-C-675C compliant (LT-90 tape test), no blistering or peeling
  • Thermal Cycling: −62 °C to +71 °C, no coating detachment
  • Abrasion: MIL-C-675C & CCC-C-440, 25 cycles at 1.0 lb (0.45 kg) without damage
  • Humidity: 95–100% RH at 49 °C for 24 h, no defects
  • Solvent/Cleaning: Acetone & alcohol exposure with no scratches or peeling
  • Salt Spray: 100 h at 5% salinity, no corrosion or coating failure
