BBO Crystal Switch

Description:

BBO crystals, or Beta Barium Borate crystals (β-BaB₂O₄), are a premier choice for electro-optic applications, particularly in high average power electro-optic Q-switches. Compared to other materials, BBO crystals exhibit superior performance in high power lasers, temperature stability, and immunity to piezoelectric ringing. These advantages make BBO crystals highly suitable for various demanding applications.

BBO crystals offer a broad transparency range (210-2000 nm) and exhibit low absorption coefficients, weak piezoelectric ringing, and superior electro-optic coefficients compared to traditional DKDP electro-optic modulators. These properties, combined with a high damage threshold and high extinction ratio, ensure stable and efficient performance in high-power laser applications.

At Shape Optics, we offer large-size BBO electro-optic crystals, providing a maximum size of up to 20×20×20 mm³.
