Project Manager, Laser Optics

We support customers worldwide across industrial laser processing, semiconductor manufacturing, defense, research, and medical applications.

We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager, Laser Optics to lead customer programs, manage cross-functional product activities, and support the growth of our laser optics portfolio.

 

Key Responsibilities

Project & Technical Management

  • Manage end-to-end project lifecycle for laser-optics programs, including planning, scheduling, risk assessment, and execution.
  • Coordinate with optical, mechanical, and coating engineers to align design, manufacturability, and performance requirements.
  • Translate customer specifications into internal engineering tasks and project deliverables.
  • Track key milestones, timelines, and technical reviews to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Evaluate optical drawings, specifications, tolerances, and coating requirements for feasibility.

Customer & Stakeholder Interaction

  • Serve as the primary customer contact for all project-related communication.
  • Support customers with technical clarification, product recommendations, and application guidance.
  • Manage customer expectations regarding cost, performance, and delivery.
  • Prepare project documentation, status reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Business Development & Market Support

  • Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to identify new opportunities in laser optics and semiconductor markets.
  • Support the creation of technical proposals, quotations, and solution packages.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and provide market insights on laser optics, optical coatings, and related photonic products.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, and customer visits.

Manufacturing & Quality Coordination

  • Collaborate with production to ensure smooth transfer from design to manufacturing.
  • Work with quality teams to resolve issues, review failure analysis, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure project compliance with laser-damage-threshold, coating performance, and optical tolerancing standards.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Physics, Optical Engineering, Photonics, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Strong technical background in IC/semiconductor, with advantage for experience in sensor ICs or semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Experience

  • 5+ years in project management, application engineering, or business development within semiconductors, optics, or laser systems.
  • Prior experience interacting with customers on technical and commercial subjects.
  • Experience managing complex technical projects with cross-functional teams.

Technical Skills (Preferred)

  • Understanding of laser optics, optical coatings, LDT (laser damage threshold), and optical system integration.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor processes, sensors, and electronics.
  • Ability to read optical and mechanical drawings (Zemax, CAD, or similar tools is a plus).

Soft Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to multitask across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for customer discussions, vendor visits, and exhibitions.
